There are so many classic cars on the market these days and whilst most are likely to gravitate to classic offerings from the likes of Porsche, Ferrari et al, there are some absolute belters to be found from perhaps lesser known car manufacturers as this awesome looking 1971 Jensen Interceptor FF II from Silverstone Auctions admirably illustrates. This technologically advanced Jensen FF has been beautifully restored, magazine and pop video featured and now ready for the next chapter in its journey. And it might just be with you.
The 1971 Jensen Interceptor FF II from Silverstone Auctions has a guide price of £90-110k so it obviously doesn’t come cheap but, let’s face it, when do you get the chance to own a vehicle that is dripping in as much old school cool as this one. Sensationally stylish and presented in remarkable condition, we expect bidding to reach fever pitch with this one here at Coolector HQ. It is a UK-supplied, right-hand drive Interceptor FF II with just five owners and expertly restored to a high standard so you’ll be getting a piece of motoring royalty if you manage to get your hands on it by the time the hammer goes down on this one.
STRIKING VISUALS
The detailed restoration of this 1971 Jensen Interceptor FF II was captured stage by stage with supporting images by marque specialist, Colin Holley Autos in 2004 so you can see, in great detail, the calibre of the work that they carried out to restore it to its former glory. It is presented in a majestic silver grey metallic exterior with a beautifully detailed, luxurious red leather interior. It is well regarded within the Jensen Owners Club having participated in European Tours, club events and even magazine features such is the quality of its restoration.
Originally unveiled in 1966 at the London Motor Show, the Jensen FF was immediately voted ‘Car of the Year’ by the motoring press due to its outstanding technical performance. FF stood for Ferguson Formula, the four-wheel-drive system developed by Harry Ferguson for racing cars, that split the torque unequally between the front and rear wheels to deliver a sure-footed and superb handling especially for such a big GT. This combined with Dunlop Maxaret anti-lock braking – another first – is what led the pundits to call the FF the “World’s Safest Car”.
It has been correctly dry stored since its overhaul back in 2004, this stunning steed presents beautifully in sparkling metallic silver paintwork with a luxurious red leather interior. At the time of cataloguing, the odometer read 41,875 miles and it’s noted by the vendor that a documented speedo change in 2014 indicates that the actual total distance covered is 89,850 miles. It is being offered from a private collection of carefully selected classic cars and this Jensen Interceptor FF II has had a total of just five owners including the vendor who has been its custodian since 2016. After a once in a lifetime classic car? This might just be it.
