We love a good car customisation job here at The Coolector so you can only imagine how we feel about a great one like this spectacular 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ-40 Hard Top from the guys at Legacy Overland. This magnificent looking steed really does have it all from a style and performance point of view and the workshop has done an exceptional job of breathing new life into a machine that is over forty years old.
The Legacy Overland 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ-40 Hard Top takes a 4.2L 6-cylinder 2F gasoline engined Land Cruiser back to its unadulterated and undeniably glorious past – delivering it a true chance to shed all things modern and just head out there into the wild in search of adventure. The team at Legacy Overland found it invigorating to go back to basics with this build and deliver a vehicle that is at once understated in style but overflowing with neat design features that help to set it apart from other custom jobs on the market.
Vintage Vibes
This sensational steed from Legacy Overland is period correct and about as refined as they come. The 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ-40 Hard Top has been comprehensively restored and had all internals taken apart and carefully reassembled with new parts or refurbished original components. The upholstery has been hand crafted to the original specifications, but with upgraded materials and to more exacting standards to deliver a machine that is off the charts from an aesthetic point of view.
The Legacy Overland 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ-40 Hard Top keeps the restoration within a true-to-classic vision, a vintage-correct air conditioning system was incorporated to keep up with the technological tastes of the brand’s high-end, sophisticated clients. The FJ-40 comes with a vintage-looking RetroSound stereo system and door mounted speakers that provide an exceptional audio performance out on the road.
Beyond these items, the build of the Legacy Overland 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ-40 Hard Top incorporates significant non-intrusive improvements throughout each step of the restoration in order to increase the reliability of the machine. For example, electric cables and wire looms have been carefully protected by conduits, the car’s suspension is supported by Old Man Emu components and the vehicle rides on a set of BFGoodrich All/Terrain tires which truly are fit for any adventure you’re likely to take this old boy on.
Back To Basics
This build from Legacy Overland was all about stripping things back to basics and consisted of a complete frame restoration. It has been painted in a decidedly striking Toyota Rustic Green that gives the machine a real adventure aesthetic that we’re loving here at Coolector HQ. It boasts a 4.2L 6-cylinder gasoline engine, 4-speed manual gearbox, RetroSound Bluetooth enabled digital radio, front seat bench and rear jump seats for the ultimate in off roading machines.
We’re always impressed with the customised restoration projects from Legacy Overland but this 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ-40 Hard Top is certainly one of their most accomplished and top performing to date. Classically styled and filled with clever little design features and original components, this showcases their customisation talents wonderfully well and we can see what other steeds they turn their attention to in 2019.
