Whilst it would be folly to suggest that we don’t drink craft beer all year round here at Coolector HQ, it’s possibly winter where we enjoy it the most because there are few feelings better than going to your nearest old man’s pub, sitting next to the fire and enjoying a craft beer or two. With this in mind, we’ve compiled a list of our top picks for winter craft beers to be quaffed over the next few months below:
Beavertown Brewery Applelation
Beavertown Brewery are based on our own doorstep here in London and boast a mighty awesome and eclectic selection of craft beers and their seasonal offerings are second to none. Their Applelation offering has definitely got warming winter written all over it as it’s a sparkling wine / beer hybrid which manages to perfectly balances the traditional and familiar spicy characteristics of the saison yeast and the renowned tartness of bramley apples and adds to them with rich honey notes. One to saviour this Christmas.

Rascals Big Hop Red
Whilst the thing that immediately made us think of winter and Christmas in particular with this great looking craft ale was the Santa Claus-esque packaging, it is definitely a worthy addition to our list of must have festive ales. Big Hop Red from Irish brewers, Rascals, has unquestionably got all the makings of a winter warmer and it is billed as hoppy red ale with a sweet caramel backbone. A mouth-watering drop and one that will be imbibing aplenty around Coolector HQ this Christmas and New Years.

Yeastie Boys White Noise
If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas then you’d be well served by adding a crate or two of the delicious White Noise beer from New Zealand based brewers, Yeastie Boys, to your Christmas list. This great sounding and even better tasting beer is a perfumy coconut and vanilla offering that has a more than a modicum of citrus and spice to add a festive flavour to proceedings and is finished off with bready grains from the wheat for that earthy, warming taste we all crave come winter.

Camden Town Flue Faker
A favourite brewers of ours here at Coolector HQ, Camden Town Brewery boast a great selection of seasonal craft beers and their Flue Faker tipple would be our pick. It is take on a a beer classic, the Bamberg Rauchbier, and, it’s fair to say, the subtle flavours are perfect for this time of year when the cold weather is closing in and you want a craft beer that packs a punch.
