Living on the coast is something we’re definitely bang up for here at Coolector HQ and this is definitely true when you can be as close to the coast as is the case with the, frankly breathtaking, Seabreeze House from British design studio, RX Architects. Located in Camber Sands in East Sussex, this beautiful piece of contemporary design is directly inspired by Mediterranean beach houses and is covered in an eye-catching pink concrete which certainly sets it apart from the surrounding properties.
Gloriously quirky, Seabreeze House from RX Architects is a wonderful looking home that has been designed for a couple with three children who wanted to replace a house that previously occupied the site. Provided with a pretty carte blanche brief, Rye-based RX Architects used the opportunity to come up with a brilliantly playful property for the family with an interior that could adapt to their ever changing requirements.
SEASIDE LIVING AT ITS FINEST
As the home is located on a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) – an area designated for conservation – the scale and massing of Seabreeze House were restricted by planning guidelines that only allowed a one for one replacement but, as you can see, the team at RX Architects have done a phenomenal job of delivering a spacious, contemporary home that works perfectly for the lucky family that reside there.
On the exterior, Seabreeze House is easily distinguishable courtesy of its flush facade, with windows that are designed without ledges to help to stop the accumulation of sand that comes from being located so close to the beach. Sealed with robust, microfibre concrete, which is coloured with pink pigment, the exterior of Seabreeze House helps the property to withstand high winds, moving sand and salt air. Something which is obviously essential given its location on Camber Sands Beach.
Internally, Seabreeze House also excels and consists of an open-plan living space with vast windows which make the most of those glorious beach views. There is also three double bedrooms, two ensuite bedrooms and a family bathroom. There is also a small spa area in the home, which includes a steam room, a sauna and a plunge pool – which makes this one of the most relaxing homes you’re likely to encounter. The main bedroom is complete with a wonderful window seat, which was designed to give the owners the feeling that they are hovering over the beach with uninterrupted views out to sea. A breathtaking piece of British architecture.
