If, like us here at The Coolector, you thought that Swedish car-maker were pretty much only synonymous with boxy station wagons, you can think again because this stunning 1971 Volvo 1800E 4-Speed is undoubtedly one of the coolest looking steeds to have emerged from the 70s. Available from Bring A Trailer now and with a current bid of just $37,000, you’ve got a chance to get your hands on an incredibly unique and, quite frankly, aesthetically awesome sports car that will add a vintage touch of cool to any classic car lineup.
The 1971 Volvo 1800E 4-Speed from Bring A Trailer (current bid $37k) is a real beauty and it is finished in Dark Green over saddle leather and is powered by a fuel-injected 2.0-litre inline-four engine mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Some of the equipment you’ll be treated to in this old school cool classic includes 15″ Clover wheels, Bilstein shocks, IPD sway bars, power-assisted disc brakes, wood trim, and an aftermarket Alpine stereo system.
VISUALLY SUPERIOR VOLVO
This 1971 Volvo 1800E 4-Speed was originally sold by Stadel Motors of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and later moved to Oregon, where it was recently acquired by the selling dealer. The fluids were changed in anticipation of the sale and it currently shows 101k miles on the clock. It is now offered with service records and a clean Oregon title so you’ll be able to get it on the road pretty much straight away. The immensely striking steed includes an oval egg-crate grille, chrome bumpers with rubber inserts, a driver’s side mirror, and dual exhaust outlets.
Brilliantly retro from a visual perspective, we didn’t know Volvo had this calibre of car in their locker truth be told and the fact you might be able to get your hands on it for under $40k with Bring A Trailer is the real icing on the cake. Optional 15″ Clover wheels are equipped with chrome trim rings and mounted with Bridgestone Potenza G019 Grid tires. This fantastic looking machine is fitted with Bilstein shocks and IPD sway bars and the braking is handled by power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes.
The interior of this devilishly dapper Volvo features bucket seats trimmed in saddle leather along with matching door panels and contrasting brown carpets. A few of the stand out amenities include a lockable centre console, wood trim, a clock, a rear window defroster, stainless steel sill guards, and an Alpine CD stereo. The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph VDO speedometer, a 7k-rpm VDO tachometer, and Smiths gauges for oil temperature and water temperature. After the sort of classic sports car you typically won’t see anywhere else on the road? This might just be the one for you.
