We love our watches here at Coolector HQ and whilst the likes of Breitling, TAG Heuer and IWC are all well and good, we typically prefer those smaller more bespoke brands that release their timepiece in small numbers and to the highest conceivable quality. That is perhaps why we fell for Chicago watchmakers Oak & Oscar a year or so ago and we’re delighted to report their latest small batch release, the Sandford Watch, is ready to hit the shelves and it is suitably awesome to say the least.
The Oak & Oscar Sandford Watch is named after Scottish born inventor, Sandford Fleming who traveled to Canada in the mid-1800s and was, in fact, the man largely responsible for a large proportion of the Canadian railway system. Not only this but Sandford was also one of the biggest exponents of the use of standardised time zones so, as you can patently see, he was a man who loved time. The Sandford Watch from Oak & Oscar is a fitting nod to the man’s life achievements.
Boasting a multitude of extremely cool features and some add-ons that go above and beyond the call of duty for a timepiece, it is little wonder that we have been so thoroughly impressed with the Oak & Oscar Sandford Watch here at The Coolector. Some of the most striking features include a Swiss automatic Soprod movement that is housed within a custom-designed case with a charcoal grey sandwich dial, dark grey hands and a super impressive orange seconds hand with a custom counter balance. Check out a few more shots below:
We love the understated, retro appeal of the Sandford Watch from Oak & Oscar but it is the little things that really make it stand out from the crowd. Such as the fact it comes with a replacement olive green premium nylon strap with a signed buckle and orange stitching from Crown & Buckle not to mention a supremely stylish matching leather watch wallet which has been designed by Oak & Oscar creator, Chase, and crafted by the talented chaps at Defy Mfg Co. which is a local Chicago bag and accessories shop. Undoubtedly one of our favourite watches of the year to date.
