HBO is, in The Coolector’s opinion, one of the finest proponents of gritty dramas and the type of programmes that we enjoy and no programme before or since has typified this better than The Wire. The Baltimore based drugs and politics drama is unquestionably one of the most respected television shows of all time and it is pretty much on constant repeat at Coolector HQ so it obviously isn’t that surprising that we rejoice when, literally, any sort of The Wire related goods hit the market but when said goods are as awesome as these The Wire Poster Project Prints, the excitement is understandably that bit higher.
The project consists of a not insubstantial 60 Wire related prints (one for each episode of the show) and boasts an epigram about the episode in particular that is being represented. The project is the work of graphic artist, Oliver Munday and for each one of his prints purchased, a proportion of the revenue will go to The Baltimore Urbane Debate League, which aims to improve the lives of disadvantaged students in Baltimore’s most deprived areas, and, I think we can all agree, this is an admirable cause indeed.
Each of the posters measures 18″ by 24″ and has been printed in high-quality digital on archival paper, with the episode number in the bottom left and the season it’s from in the top right. Check out a few of our favourites below:
