There are so many spectacular classic cars out there on the market (though most, lamentably, well outside our budget here at Coolector HQ) and if you’re looking for the next steed to add to your vintage car collection, this amazing looking 1963 Studebaker Avanti R2 ‘Supercharged’ has to be a prime contender. It boasts a breathtaking aesthetic and remains in remarkable condition considering the age of the vehicle.
The 1963 Studebaker Avanti R2 ‘Supercharged’ is coming under the hammer with RM Sotheby’s and has a guide price of between $45k and $65k which makes it one of the more affordable machines we’ve covered from this luxury auction house – but no less desirable. The striking design screams 60s luxury car and for those with a love of the unusual, this would be the perfect vintage car to add to your line up with its spectacular visuals and first class performance.
Old School Classic
This mesmerising 1963 Studebaker Avanti R2 ‘Supercharged’ is coming up for auction at RM Sotheby’s Fort Lauderdale event on 30th March and it has already turned heads aplenty so bidding is likely to be fervent amongst classic car enthusiasts. The reason it has proven a mighty popular lot is because it is a highly desirable 289 cu. in. with a supercharged V-8 engine; automatic transmission and a visual impact that is impossible to ignore.
The 1963 Studebaker Avanti R2 ‘Supercharged’ from RM Sotheby’s boasts a one-off Targa Roof as shown in the original Raymond Loewy designs that were never put into production which adds significantly to the air of exclusivity that this majestic machine already exudes. It was originally sold new through Lloyd Pearson Studebaker – Mercedes-Benz – Volvo in Pasadena, CA to E.M. Pierce of Pasadena, CA on 12/21/63 and looks almost as good as it did when it left the lot over 50 years ago.
With this incredible looking ride you are getting a piece of automotive history without having to entirely break the bank and you may, if you’re incredibly lucky, be able to secure this 1963 Studebaker Avanti R2 ‘Supercharged’ for under $50k when it comes under the hammer with RM Sotheby’s. It was repainted in 2018 but retains the incredible looking, original interior so you’ll be delighted with the 1960s vibe when you climb into the driver’s seat for the first time.
Few Owners
This exceptional looking contraption has only had three owners since new which goes a long way to explaining why it is in such remarkable condition now. The 1963 Studebaker Avanti R2 ‘Supercharged’ from RM Sotheby’s was purchased from Pierce’s estate by John Rutledge of Santa Ana, CA on 9/14/78 and subsequently sold to Robert Hickman of Thousand Oaks, CA in 1996. It has a copy of original window sticker, bill of sale, books and original manuals.
For lovers of vehicles from the 1960s, looking to add new cars to their collection, this 1963 Studebaker Avanti R2 ‘Supercharged’ is definitely going to be looking mighty appealing right about now and the fact that it could potentially be snapped up for as little as $45k is the real icing on the cake. It has factory air conditioning unit added to the car in the early 2000s and electric washer; power steering and brakes.
