We’ve obviously got a bit of a penchant for Land Rovers here at Coolector HQ and are regularly searching for workshops that specialise in restoring these majestic machines. One of the most recent to come into our purview is that of Brooklyn Coachworks and they’re rapidly becoming one of our favourites courtesy of excellent builds like this 1975 Land Rover Series III 109 which is certainly one of the boldest looking restorations we’ve seen in a while.

Brooklyn Coachworks have featured on our pages a couple of times before but the supremely eye-catching 1975 Land Rover Series III 109 is unquestionably our favourite to date from this American workshop. They clearly have a penchant for sympathetically restoring these vehicles and this positively shines through in their latest build which is as eye-catching as it is well crafted.

It boasts a larger 6 cylinder engine with 135hp and 195ft-lbs of torque which makes this Series 109 much quicker and more pleasurable to drive than it’s 4 cylinder brothers.

There are a lot of impressive features to appreciate with this Brooklyn Coachworks 1975 Land Rover Series III 109 which includes added boosted brakes which means you can stop this Series 109 on a dime and ensures that it never lets you down out on the open road. It has a galvanised front bumper with a rust free, solid frame and brand new interior seats that deliver first class comfort. Dual fuel tanks that equate to 30 gallons helps makes this an enjoyable drive that will travel any distance.

Interesting History

This Land Rover Series III 109 was originally fitted with a 2.25l Land Rover engine with just 74hp and 140ft-lbs of torque so, as you can see, Brooklyn Coachworks have put a lot of eye-catching new features into its restoration. Once refitted with the inline 6 cylinder engine it now produces 135hp and 195ft-lbs of torque, it has drastically changed this once lumbering Series 109 into a modern day SUV.

With this fantastic increase in power, Brooklyn Coachworks have also fitted a boosted brake servo so slowing down is as a doddle, and perhaps even better than you’ll find with your everyday car. This is a true wolf in sheeps’ clothing and we’re loving its unique and striking aesthetic here at Coolector HQ. For anyone after a Land Rover that has the vintage aesthetic but has been bought well and truly into the 21st century, this would be a top pick of ours for sure.
