As big movie fans here at The Coolector, living London adjacent is definitely to our benefit because there are all manner of excellent film related activities to keep one entertained and we’ve not come across many doing it better than Backyard Cinema with their engaging methodology for bringing movies to life. Backyard Cinema are the brainchild of Dominic Davies, a similarly film-obsessed fellow, who saw fit to stand up to the overpriced juggernaut of conventional cinema going and replace it with a much more friendly, affordable and interesting backdrop and, with that aim, Backyard Cinema came to fruition.
A lack of care has crept into the mainstream cinema in recent years, from terrible food to uncomfortable seating, and the objective of Backyard Cinema is to make watching a movie a real event that can be enjoyed even if the film in question isn’t amazing or to your tastes – you can still soak up the atmosphere of great food and great company – something that is entirely lacking from modern cinemas. Backyard Cinema curates a great selection of movies for their customer’s viewing pleasure and often boasts themed events such as an upcoming zombie / horror collection to coincide with Halloween.
The best element of Backyard Cinema, particularly in our alcohol loving opinion at Coolector HQ, is the addition of great cocktails and craft ales to the menu in conjunction with some really great settings for their pop up screens such as breweries and historic London buildings. A great way to enjoy some of your favourite movies, Backyard Cinema is a decidedly spiffing addition to the gamut of ways to watch films and a must-do night out for Londoners (or, indeed, those just visiting) – check out a few shots from Backyard Cinema events below:
As you can see, there is a distinctly relaxed vibe to the way in which Backyard Cinema operates and coupled with the brilliant food and drink offerings and unusual settings, it truly makes for a whole new way in which to enjoy some of your favourite movies. We’re always advocates of anything that enhances people’s enjoyment of films here at The Coolector and Backyard Cinema patently have a deep love of the silver screen and this is reflected in their dedication to improving the way in which Londoners experience their movie visits.
