Whether you love contemporary or traditional design when it comes to architecture, there is plenty to be appreciated with both but for those with more modern leanings, these superbly realised and eye-catchingly constructed Black House by AR Design Studio is going to tick plenty of your aesthetic boxes both internally and externally. A stunning piece of architectural design that has left us feeling mighty jealous here at Coolector HQ.
AR Design Studio is the brainchild of Andy Rasmus and they are an award-winning RIBA certified modern architecture studio, situated out of Winchester, Hampshire, in the UK and they are particularly adept at creating sophisticated contemporary new homes, extensions, renovations and multi-plot developments and the breathtaking Black House you see before you is undoubtedly one of their most hypnotically stylish and impeccably designed homes to date.
Out Of The World Design
The Black House from AR Design Studio is located in Kent, UK, and takes its design inspiration from both traditional and contemporary buildings in the region. Immediately drawing the eye, this first class piece of architectural design has a cantilevered exterior which was inspired by Sissinghurst Castle Garden and delivers a real visual impact the minute you lay eyes on the property.
It is the gardens of the Black House by AR Design Studio that really stand out in our opinion here at The Coolector and its layout is separated into a number of different areas that stay hidden due to the well-maintained hedges and carefully positioned brick walls which mean that the entire garden can only be witness from the writing room of the central tower in the castle. This is a cool design feature that gives the space a touch of privacy and showcases the design skills of the architects at AR Design Studio.
With such a striking exterior, consisting of vertical black timber cladding, it’s hard not to be immediately won over by the Black House and it has three entrances dotted around the outside of the house to make it an incredibly versatile living space. We’re loving the modern aesthetic of the Black House at The Coolector and even traditionalists would find it difficult to argue with the aesthetic appeal from the minute you step inside as well.
Interior Appeal
Interior design is something that needs to be carefully considered with contemporary, unusual properties like the Black House from AR Design Studio and, as you can see, they have hit the nail firmly on the head here. The living room looks onto the outdoor pool to the west, and the kitchen and understated dining room faces east to catch the sun each morning something it manages as it cantilevers out 7.3 meters above the driveway.
Most rooms in the Black House have floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that open up to drink in the amazing views surrounding the property, not least those of of the orchard and vineyard in the grounds. For those contemporary design lovers out there, such as ourselves, it’s fair to say that the Black House includes more or less everything we’d look for in a property.
