Farer Stanhope II Watch

Farer have rapidly become one of our favourite watchmakers here at The Coolector and for anyone with a love of impeccably crafted and eye-catching timepieces, chances are they will already be on your horological radar. Their latest release, the Farer Stanhope II Watch, is one of their most ambitious and effortlessly cool to date and we’re loving the aesthetics of this timepiece here at Coolector HQ. This devilishly dapper watch has a hand-wound cushion case with piqué textured white dial and your choice of strap.

Priced at £875, the Farer Stanhope II Watch is great value for money when you consider the quality of its components and the sheer attention to detail that has gone into its creation. The original Stanhope timepiece from Farer was originally released back in 2018, as part of the watchmaker’s hand-wound collection. Now reimagined into an all new, highly polished, three part construction cushion case design, fresh for 2022, it’s hard not to be won over by the bold new visuals.

DELICIOUSLY DETAILED DESIGN

The dial of the Farer Stanhope II is built using a complex multi-layer dial technique, delivering an intricate piqué textured off-white central plate, punched in for the sweeping sub-dial at 6 and cut-in around the circumference to create the hour markings. The raised polished steel numerals at 12, 3 and 9 along with the hour batons, which have been infilled with midnight blue, set off the textured plate of this majestic looking timepiece from the British watchmaker. Raised wedge marker details on the hour indexes are finished in Super-LumiNova dots, linking to the rounded index hands with matching inset Super-LumiNova on both hour and minute hands to add a further depth to the Stanhope design after dark.

At 38.5mm the case of the Farer Stanhope II (£875) sits comfortably on any wrist, with the lines of the new cushion case architecture creating a barrel sided design that hugs the dial. Less commonly, the case of this watch is skilfully made up of a three piece construction; case back, main case body and bevelled bezel with anti-reflective sapphire glass inset – and this results in a visually arresting piece from any view when handling. The straps of the watch create the illusion of being integrated into the bat ear lug design, due to an innovative scalloped inner case between the lugs for a snug fit.

This effortlessly cool watch from Farer is powered by the modified non-date SELLITA SW216-1 Elaboré Grade movement, which is notable for its thinness, reliability and robust performance day in, day out. It is finished off with blue screws and bespoke Farer arrow pattern, across the micro-engraved bridge. This top quality movement is capable of delivering 45 hours power reserve when the calibre is fully manually wound and the strap is St Venere leather 316L stainless steel with buckle fastening.
