This 1975 Ferrari 365 GT4 BB from Schaltkulisse has been fully restored and it is Ferrari Classiche certified so you know it is positively oozing class and sophistication and is one of the finest examples available on the market right now. As a successor to the front-engined 365 GTB/4 “Daytona”, the team at Ferrari engineered a completely new car, exhibiting its first ever non-vee-configuration engine for the road.
A Vintage Year
Originally showcased in 1971 as a concept, of which the production model was almost unchanged, the 365 GT4 BB was powered by a Boxer 12-cylinder engine that took inspiration from the brand’s successful flat-12 motors which were used in their F1 and sports-racing vehicles. At an output of no-less than 360 bhp at 7,700 rpm, the BB was sent to a top speed of 280 km/h in 1973 which, needless to say was no mean feat.
With the mid-engine setup and the low centre of gravity, the handling of the this Ferrari Boxer Berlinetta from Schaltkulisse was more than a match to its straight-line performance. The 365 GT4 was the fastest car back in the 1970s thanks to its superior powerplant, but also to its stunning Pininfarina body, which was the result of a lot of wind tunnel testing. The mixture of light aluminium-alloy and steel panels, perfectly complemented by fibreglass elements, were assembled by Scaglietti.
The 365 GT4 BB is a very rare steed indeed, as only 367 were ever built in its four-year production run so if you’re the one lucky enough to get your hands on this one from Schaltkulisse, you’ll be in mighty exclusive company and the envy of Ferrari aficionados the world over. Its stunning Pininfarina body was finished in the colour of Nero 20-B-50 Salchi, and this has been finished with an exquisite Pelle Beige VM 3218 leather interior.
