Whilst, by definition, a luxury watch should be extravagantly priced, this is incredibly prohibitive to the average Joe who has designs on making their wrist look dapper but don’t have thousands of pounds (or dollars) to blow on a timepiece.
Well, spotting a gap in the market for attractive and stylish men’s watches, the Hudson River Watch Co. have passed their Kickstarter exam with flying colours and are now fully-fledged members of the watchmaking fraternity. And I for one, salute them. Because they have released a whole host of devilishly attractive men’s watches that come in at under $500 but, truth be told, wouldn’t look out of place sitting side by side next to some of the so-called luxury brands.
Conceived and followed through to fruition by New Yorker, Robert Willis, these eye-catching timepieces take their inspiration from various streets to be found in Manhattan and there’s no denying that they boast the sort of visual flair of a watch costing thrice the price. In conjunction with his designer wife, Willis has come up with some fantastically sartorial and elegant watches that, despite their lower price-tag, don’t compromise on quality.
Hudson River Watch Co. watches have a Swiss-made ETA movement as their beating heart, sapphire crystal glass casing and are water-resistant to 150ft. These exemplary watches are timeless and classically stylish and, safe to say, they’ve found a fan of their offerings in me. Take a look at a few of their best below:
