When it comes to car restorations, the guys at ICON 4×4 are at the very top of their game and they specialise in restoring one of our favourite vehicles here at Coolector HQ, the Bronco. To celebrate the milestone of 100 Broncos restored, they’ve just released a special School Edition Bronco that is impossibly cool and will be snapped up in no time we’re sure.
The ICON 4×4 School Edition Bronco is a unique blending of old meets new and strikes the perfect balance between safety and refinement with capability. It does all this while also presenting an analogue responsibility for the driver. If you want to have an authentic, real driving experience, new vehicles just don’t offer the same feeling as ones like this. And they seldom look as good either.
The donor vehicle for this 100th Bronco restoration from ICON 4×4 is a 1974 6-cylinder Bronco, overflowing with old-school cool. For the build, ICON 4×4 implemented the workshop’s popular New School design package alongside several other eye-catching enhancements. Amongst the noteworthy additions for this restoration is a current-generation Coyote 5.0 Mustang GT aluminium fuel-injected V8 engine good for 430 horsepower that will turn heads everywhere you go and blow you away with its performance on the open road.
It has hydro-boosted sport brakes by Brembo that provide elite-level stopping power, while a ceramic-coated stainless-steel exhaust system ensures a pleasingly deep, sonorous engine growl. For the exterior paint, ICON 4×4 chose the same Cactus Gray colourway used on new Broncos and also added their special Volcanic Black coating on most of the exterior trim, which includes the front grill, rear-view mirrors, custom ICON door handles, and the gas cap.
For the interiors of this stunning steed, ICON 4×4 ICON teamed with legendary upholstery brand, Spinneybeck, to integrate a robust, low-maintenance leather that keeps the feel and smell of traditional leather without any of the hassles of its upkeep. The ultra-tough, near indestructible Spinneybeck hide was carefully applied to all seating surfaces and points of contact such as the upper sections of the door and cargo panels and this provides a wonderfully luxurious yet laidback aesthetic within this majestic-looking machine.
