Restoring a Classic
In this process of rebuilding this superb looking Land Cruiser, the off-road icon was kept predominantly in its original state, but many tasteful tweaks and enhancements have been carried out to bring it to this better-than-new standard. The gearbox, was upgraded to a 5-speed unit from a Toyota Land Cruiser BJ46 to allow the FJ40 better on-road and cruising capabilities. The brakes have been upgraded with a custom Legacy Overland kit to vented discs front and rear, power steering was also included and suspension upgraded to Old Man Emu / ARB light-load springs and shocks.
The interior of the Legacy Overland 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 5-speed has been finished off in full grain dark brown leather with edge piping. The cabin is made more luxurious with a combination of sound insulating Dynamat and felt carpeting under a textured vinyl mat. The steering wheel has been given more grip using black leather with cross stitching, while the sound is delivered by a RetroSound Bluetooth enabled system matched with four speakers. A custom fabricated cubby box was also added between two front OEM-style bucket seats with headrests added.
Chock full of fine features, this amazing machine from Legacy Overland boasts an array of excellent features that help to set it apart from the competition which includes the body and wheel arch undersides coated with anti-gravel textured paint in body colour, BFGoodrich All/Terrain KO2 285/75R16 tires, a new galvanised exhaust system and muffler, LED split-style headlamps and a rear LED utility light.
