Star Wars is a franchise that delights young and old alike and with so many more great movies to look forward to over the coming months and years, there is likely to be a whole new generation of Star Wars lovers on the horizon. Many of the younger ones, particularly those with a love of technology and learning, are going to want to get their hands on this brilliant looking Droid Inventor Kit from the guys at LittleBits.
The LittleBits Droid Inventor Kit might be aimed at children who love creating their own pieces of technology but we’d definitely like to get our hands on one here at Coolector HQ as well. This cracking bit of kit lets children (and young at heart Star Wars aficionados) create their own Droid and bring it to life using a variety of LittleBits electronic blocks. It is joined by the Droid Inventor app, which will be responsible for giving their Droid newfound skills to take it on 16+ missions.
This Is The Droid We’ve Been Looking For
Learning new skills, particularly around how technology, programming and circuits operate, is definitely of benefit to young people and this LittleBits Droid Inventor Kit relates it to the Star Wars universe with the R2-D2 robot that make sure it resonates with fans of the franchise and ensures they have fun whilst they’re learning. There are plenty of cool features and capabilities to be found once you’ve put your droid together such as “force drive” which lets you use the Force to propel your droid with hand gestures.
There is a lot of impressive technology going on under the hood of the LittleBits Droid Inventor Kit and it can even go for a solo spin with its built in navigation technology. It will detect obstacles that are in its way and change course as though it has a mind of its own. Somewhat brilliantly, you can record messages on the droid a la Princess Leah but we doubt she would send it on a craft beer recovery mission as we unquestionably would here at Coolector HQ.
With an accompanying app to the LittleBits Droid Inventor Kit, you’ll be able to programme it and learn training missions that will really make your droid part of the family. The app has everything from video instructions to your droid’s training manual and whenever you’re in doubt about any of R2-D2’s inner workings, this app should definitely be your first port of call.
First Class Functionality
Fans of Star Wars are going to be blown away with the overall functionality of the LittleBits Droid Inventor Kit and it has everything included in the box to get it up and running and enjoying all it has to offer. This includes authentic sounds taken straight from the Star Wars movies, a variety of fun missions to be enjoyed, a customisable body that can be designed in a number of different styles and plenty of expansion options that can be programmed in to give the droid new powers and skills.
We love Star Wars here at The Coolector and find it hard not to be impressed with the awesomeness of this Droid Inventor Kit from LittleBits. Though it is patently targeted at a younger generation of Star Wars fans, there will be plenty of parents out there who won’t mind getting hands on with the helping with this excellent bit of technology.
