Needless to say, the Gameboy was one of the most iconic gaming devices of a generation and was likely one the main catalysts for the gaming industry today. As such, we’re mighty thankful for Nintendo and their devilishly addictive little handheld device and it’s no surprise to us whatsoever that awesome, retro-gaming obsessed, Love Hulten, has had his own take on creating a tribute to the legendary gaming device in the shape of the superb looking PixelVision 2.0.
The PixelVision 2.0 from Love Hulten costs €349 and comes in two different iterations – namely, a clamshell version and the one piece edition – but both are knowing nods to the iconic Gameboy device which was instrumental in giving rise to the gaming industry today. This fantastic looking creation from Coolector regular Love Hulten has the sort of eye-catching aesthetic we’ve come to expect from the industrial designer and it is limited to just 50 pieces so you’ll need to move fast to secure one of your own.
Gaming Greatness
As with all the creations from Love Hulten, the PixelVision 2.0 boasts a wonderfully retro aesthetic but is combined with a number of contemporary features to make it more suitable for the 21st century. This cracking device will begin shipping in December 2018 and it is a slimmer updated version of Pixel Vision(2015) and, as mentioned, this hand-made pocket sized game system comes in two styles – the folding clamshell version (inspired by the Game Boy Advance SP) and the one piece version which takes its design inspiration from the classic Gameboy pocket.
The PixelVision 2.0 from Love Hulten is built to let you you enjoy the classics of the era in style and it is capable of storing over 10,000 games so you’ll never be short of options when you whip this out on your commute or whilst travelling. You can also add your own favourites through WiFi and create your very own, personal game library. The system of the PixelVision 2.0 is built around emulation and as a result it will let you play classic consoles like the SNES, Megadrive, NES, GBA, TurboGrafx-16 and many more which makes it the dream ticket for retro gaming enthusiasts like us here at Coolector HQ.
Perfect for enjoying some of your favourite classic games on the go, the PixelVision 2.0 from Love Hulten provides five portable hours of gaming per charge. However, if you find yourself in need of more battery time, you’ll be happy to hear that any standard external USB power bank will give the console some extra hours on the run. Each device comes with a custom made soft case which will keep the unit well protected from external damage when you’re carrying it during your commute or travelling.
Classic Style
The brilliant retro vibes of Love Hulten’s creations is something that we love here at The Coolector and this PixelVision 2.0 is certainly one of our favourites to date from this uber talented industrial designer. Billed as a handcrafted toy for the dedicated gamer, each PixelVision 2.0 is made with utmost care and attention to detail and comes in a very limited edition of just 50 units which, safe to say, won’t be hanging around for long.
With a mighty reasonable price tag of €349, the PixelVision 2.0 is going to be on a lot of Christmas wish lists amongst men who have nothing but fond memories of the golden age of gaming in the 80s and 90s. This magnificently crafted creation from Love Hulten definitely resonates with our own gaming sensibilities here at The Coolector and we’re dying to be one of the lucky 50 to get one of these ace looking vintage gaming accessories.
