MAEN are one of our favourite watchmakers here at The Coolector and their understated, effortlessly cool and impeccably crafted timepieces are some of the best in the business and whenever they’ve got a limited edition hitting the shelves, we inevitably sit up and take notice. This is even more the case when said timepiece is as cool as the Hudson 38 MK4 SangHwal Edition Watch which has been purpose built for the South Korean market and made in collaboration with avid watch aficionado, SeongJun Kim, whose YouTube channel, SangHwal, is followed by timepiece enthusiasts the world over.
The MAEN Hudson 38 MK4 SangHwal Edition Watch is set to hit the shelves on September 15th and will be sure to sell out fast so move quickly if you want to get your hands on one of these devilishly dapper timepieces. The launch consists of two brand new limited edition watches and each has been designed together with 생활인의 시계 ,SangHwal Watches for the South Korean market. Priced at €499, it’s rare to get a timepiece of this calibre for such a wallet-friendly price.
The case for the Hudson MK4 SangHwal Edition Watch has been entirely re-designed from scratch. The new deeper engraved bezel structure now has a mixed polished and brushed finish which provides a much better grip. The case construction has been greatly enhanced giving the watch a 30ATM rating – perfect for any underwater adventures afoot. The newly designed crown allows for better and more solid screw down motion and the overall case quality showcases a sharper contrast between the different finishes on the case itself.
So far as dial design is concerned, it is all about proportions and finding the right balance. The Hudson dial was carefully designed to deliver a striking yet highly readable aesthetic. The Hudson 38 SangHwal edition is available in two different variations and both have a sunray dial which is a first for the Hudson 38 series from MAEN. The indicators and the hour and minute hand on the Hudson are equipped with X1 Superluminova which provides the watch with first class readability in the dark. It has a nice cream white look in daylight and a turquoise green illumination in the dark. After a classy new watch this September? This limited edition release from MAEN gets our vote.
