There are a few watch brands that we’ve been keeping and eye on over the last few years and Mercer Watch Co is certainly one of the brands in our purview so we were delighted to see that they’ve recently launched a new timepiece over on Kickstarter. It goes by the name of Sabre and, safe to say, it is one mighty stylish looking timepiece that has taken the crowdfunding platform by storm and is rapidly approaching its funding target.

The Mercer Sabre Automatic Watch on Kickstarter has a starting price of just $399 which represents exceptional value for money for such an eye-catching and well crafted timepiece. This exemplary watch is billed as an automatic sports timepiece for those that value bold design and quality materials above all else. It excels in both these departments and for those wanting a robust, affordable and striking timepiece on their wrist in 2019, you’ve just found the prime candidate.

Well Made Watches

Established in 2014, Mercer Watch Company is a small designer and producer of timepieces which is located in central New Jersey, USA. They endeavour to design and deliver custom timepieces of the utmost quality for an affordable price and this is something which shines through in their latest Kickstarter campaign, the Sabre Automatic Watch. Described as their boldest watch design to date, the Sabre boasts high end materials such as 316L stainless steel, sapphire crystal and Superluminova. The Sabre is also the watchmaker’s first timepiece to feature a reserve indicator, so you’ll always know if your watch is running low on power.

The Sabre Automatic Watch from Mercer boasts a completely custom design which has a rotating disk beneath the dial that allows for display of the movement power reserve. A flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on the inside assures both readability and scratch resistance of the watch and ensures that it will be ready and waiting to perform for any adventures that you’ve got planned in 2019. The $399 price tag on Kickstarter is a mighty affordable one for such a top performing timepiece and we’re not surprised to see them being backed in their droves over on the crowdfunding platform.

There are eye-catching features to be appreciated throughout the Mercer Sabre Watch which includes a Seiko NE57 auto movement with power reserve, multilayered dial with SuperLuminova BG-W9, a solid engraved and press-punched caseback, a stainless oyster style bracelet and engraved clasp closure and a mighty impressive 100m water resistance. For those in the market for a no-nonsense adventure watch, this is certainly going to tick plenty of the right boxes.

Impressive Movement

With such an affordable price tag, it’s hard to believe some of the excellent components that have made their way into the Sabre Automatic Watch from Mercer which is also available for pre-order on their website. The stand out one being the automatic Seiko NE57 movement which is a new movement, and has only been available to the public since last year. Part of their ‘Premium Line’ of mechanical movements, the NE57 is a 29-jeweled movement with a centrally located power reserve indicator and more than 41 hours of run time when fully wound.

Kickstarter is home to some decidedly impressive timepieces but the Sabre Automatic Watch from Mercer is certainly one of the most striking and well made we’ve seen in a while here at Coolector HQ.
