Lighting is a pretty fundamental part of any interior design endeavour and that’s why you should always ensure that you get your lamps just right when trying to tie any room together from an aesthetic point of view. If you’re the sort that leans more heavily towards the quirky end of the spectrum when it comes to your design tastes then you’ll want to take a closer look at this excellent looking Mono Lamp if you’re planning a room refresh this Christmas.
The Mono Lamp is a design orientated lamp that takes its inspiration from a whole era of television and there won’t be anyone out there who watched television in the 80s and 90s who isn’t immediately familiar with the visuals of this superb looking piece of lighting. For those who didn’t, however, it’s aesthetics are taken from the iconic television test card and whilst that might not sound like the perfect choice for a piece of lighting, it works an absolute treat.
Classic Design
These wonderfully eccentric pieces of lighting are hand-made in Italy and boast ash wood base and the illuminated globe element of the design is around 30cm in diameter. It’s a striking choice for delivering light to your workspace and if you’re a fan of television history, it will be the ideal choice for you.
Simple in theory but wonderfully well made, the Mono Lamp has definitely captured our attention here at Coolector HQ and not just because its high time we had a change of lighting around here. It has fantastic aesthetic appeal and a clever design that is sure to appeal to creative types looking to ramp up the visual appeal of their workspace.
The Mono Lamp is the brainchild of Simon Forgacs who, as a child, was fascinated by how cool test cards looked on the TV screen. Mesmerised by the unusual, geometrical shapes, vibrant hues, not to mention the fact the test card resided inside the same box where Star Wars and Back to the Future lived. The Mono Lamp is a celebration of this sense of wonder and offers a great piece of lighting in the process.
Striking Statement
Whilst the test card design may not be for everyone, there is going to be a large proportion of individuals out there who remember watching television in the 80s and 90s and this superb piece of design will certainly bring back fond memories. It isn’t just a novelty piece, however, it is a well-made, thoughtfully designed and genuinely engaging piece of lighting that will ramp up the style of any room.
We’re loving the Mono Lamp here at Coolector HQ and for anyone after some new lighting for their home office or living room in 2017 and want something that will stand out from the crowd then the Mono Lamp from Simon Forgacs is the obvious choice in our opinion.
