We’re not going to lie, we love architecture that has a stealthy, black aesthetic here at Coolector HQ and, whilst this might not be for everyone, we’re willing to wager that designs as cool as Morla House might just change a few minds. Expertly conceived by Stanaćev Granados Architects, Morla House is located in Matanzas, Chile, and is a modern masterpiece in our opinion.
Morla House from Stanaćev Granados studio has 120m² of living space and is positioned in a location that really makes the most of some amazing views that surround this decidedly contemporary home in South America. Located in a small coastal town known for its water sports, Morla House is a holiday home so the architects had to optimise the surfaces and think of it from an architectural language that would allow work with a tight budget knowing that it would be executed with non-specialised local labour.
There is a highly striking and unusual aesthetic to Morla House and one that we’re loving here at The Coolector. It does a great job of really making the most of the natural light afforded to the various spaces and we’ve seen few better examples of a house being illuminated by the sun’s natural rays.
The black interior skin, the concealed skylight, the impressive open staircase, the sliding door of the living room, and the white horizontal planes of the ceilings at Morla House really do set it apart from the crowd and make it one of our favourite pieces of architecture in 2023 so far.
