We were recently lucky enough to spend some time in the Scottish highlands and the Yorkshire Dales here at Coolector HQ and we were luckier still that Peugeot were kind enough to provide us with their first class 3008 SUV GT Line SUV for the trip because some of the roads we found ourselves on needed a vehicle that was born for adventure. Truth be told, when we thought of SUVs at The Coolector, Peugeot probably aren’t the first name that sprang to mind but, let us tell you, they will be from now on because the 3008 SUV GT Line SUV is a monstrously excellent machine that is a delight to drive.
Chock full of mod-cons and tech essentials, it was probably inevitable that we’d fall for the charms of the Peugeot 3008 SUV here at Coolector HQ but what weren’t prepared for was just how sleek, stylish and comfortable this exemplary vehicle would be. With prices starting just under £30k, it represents excellent value for money when you consider just how much Peugeot have managed to pack in and we can safely say this was one of the most enjoyable cars that we’ve driven. It really does offers the best of both worlds with outstanding engine efficiency and sports styling that made short work of the Scottish highlands and Yorkshire Dales alike.
Top Notch Tech
It is on board the 3008 SUV GT Line SUV that things really get interesting, with the new PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® which delivers an enhanced driving experience with cutting-edge technology. This is exactly the sort of thing we look for in a car and you better believe the 3008 provides it with aplomb. The i-Cockpit® invites you to explore a 100% digital world with the configurable 8″ touchscreen, customisable 12.3” head-up digital display and compact sports steering wheel with integrated controls which are sure to enhance your driving experience. To better appreciate the world outside, you can choose the optional panoramic opening glass roof with electric blind and blue ambient lighting to really drive in style and with a relaxing atmosphere. The quality of the tech on board made our road trip adventure one to remember.
The Peugeot 3008 GT Line SUV is certainly no slouch in the performance department either and it blew us away at just how pacy it was and the power it exuded. It boasts a powerful front aspect which has an eye-catching, chequered grille complimented by striking full LED headlights. The profile of this SUV is highlighted by the line of the stainless steel rear quarter light and window trim finisher. The rear of the 3008 couldn’t be more elegant, with a gloss black band enhanced by 3-claw LED lights that makes it stand out from the crowd during night time road trips.
With a highly efficient engine and almost no noise whilst driving you’d almost be mistaken for thinking the 3008 SUV we were in was an electric vehicle. You can choose your engine when purchasing a 3008 SUV GT Line from Peugeot and these choices include BlueHDi diesel, e-THP petrol and multi award-winning PureTech 3 cylinder petrol engines – all of which are extremely energy efficient. The 3008 has active blind spot detection (ABSD), active lane keeping assistance (LKA) which, admittedly, can be a bit of shock when it drives to steer you back into another lane to start with, advanced driver attention alert system (DAA3) and Peugeot Smartbeam Assistance and our favourite tech feature, the wireless Smartphone charging plate.
Laden With Awards
There aren’t many cars out there that have been bestowed with quite so many awards as the Peugeot 3008 SUV and, having been lucky enough to pilot one for a week, we’re in a position to say that these awards are richly deserved. It has has won more than 47 international awards, including the prestigious European Car of the Year Award 2017. In the UK alone, the 3008 has won an impressive array of automotive accolades, which includes the ‘Gold Car of the Year’ and the ‘Gold Winner – Mid-Size SUV’ awards in the 16th Driver Power survey.
If you’re looking for a new SUV this year and want one that offers one of the smoothest rides out there and boasts the sort of tech within that will keep even the most gadget inclined of drivers happy, we’ve no hesitation whatsoever in recommending the Peugeot 3008 GT Line SUV. After driving this beast around the Scottish highlands and the Yorkshire Dales for a week, we definitely didn’t want to give it back – which speaks volumes about what we thought of its performance.
