Having recently moved away from the Big Smoke of London and found ourselves in the equally as excellent Liverpool here at Coolector HQ, we’ve already begun looking for cool brands around our own back yard and we’ve found another in the form of Pretty Broke Apparel who boast a pretty bang up collection of typography and illustration centric T-shirts which, as you’re likely aware, is the type we gravitate towards.
We typically find that many of favourite apparel brands here at The Coolector have illustrators at their core and so it has proven once again with Pretty Broke Apparel. The brainchild of Tom Burnham, Pretty Broke is a independent clothing line that focuses on quirky T-shirts with exactly the sort of aesthetic that we love. All the wares originating from the Pretty Broke stable are screen printed in house in their Liverpool based print studio, which goes by the name of Sizewell illustration club.
Born From Illustration
Everyone has their own tastes when it comes to the sort of T-shirts and apparel that they favour and, for us at least, those with cool, quirky illustrations and great looking typography typically win the day and that’s why you won’t be surprised to hear that we’re loving Pretty Broke Apparel so much here at Coolector HQ. All of the cracking wares from this Liverpool based T-shirt pedlar are limited edition print runs, which means only a small number of t-shirts will be printed. Once these have been sold the t-shirt will no longer be available so if there’s something you like the look of, you need to move quickly.
The screen printed goods of Pretty Broke Apparel are rarely bought to life by their epic lookbook that once again showcases the brand’s illustrative talents and leanings. Overlaying eye-catching illustrations on top of real-life photoshoots, these cracking T-shirts are given a whole new lease of life and we’re loving this way of showing off the tees. For those of you that like to make a bit of a statement with your clothing, there are T-shirts that fit the bill here but there are also some more understated ones for more casual occasions.
Pretty Broke Apparel are a newcomer to the T-shirt game but they’ve already got a pretty impressive line up of tees to choose from so you’re sure to find something that matches your tastes – particularly if you’re as enamoured as us with excellent illustration. There is quite a beachy vibe to a lot of their tees so this is another reason that their wares are sure to resonate with laid back T-shirt lovers out there.
First Class Design
There is a really distinct aesthetic to these brilliantly illustrated tees from Tom Burnham and if you’re after some more pieces to slot seamlessly into your wardrobe rotation, you’re sure to find something just right here. The T-shirts are made from 100% ringspun cotton so are incredibly comfortable and will look and feel great on any trip to the pub.
Pretty Broke Apparel are the first fashion brand we’ve discovered in our new stomping ground of Liverpool and, in the words of Larry David, they are pretty, pretty, preetttttty good. And we can’t wait to see what else they’ve got up their sleeves for the rest of 2017 and beyond.
