In 1972, the watch brand Desotos had a long line of successful chronograph sports watches and when the time came to design their next watch, they considered the needs of racing drivers and aeroplane pilots, who needed to be able to tell the time without taking their hands off the controls to pull up their sleeves. Desotos came up with a daring solution: a chronograph that would not be covered by long sleeves.
