Whisky is a drink that needs to be drunk the right way and be of a high quality to be truly enjoyed and savoured and, quite frankly, you’ll not find many distilleries out there doing it better than the guys at The GlenAllachie. This majestic Scottish whisky maker operates out of Speyside which is home to so many wonderful whiskies, but there are plenty of reasons why this hidden gem is so special.
Their story begins in 1967 when The GlenAllachie Distillery, which was the fourth distillery designed by William-Delme Evans and built by Mackinlay McPherson (distilling arm of Scottish and Newcastle), came to be. It was designed to be almost full gravity fed to run on reduced energy which already set this whisky maker apart from the competition. They’ve gone from strength to strength as a whisky brand and now produce some of the most sought after and acclaimed bottles of whisky on the market. Looking for a new tipple this summer? You might just have found it.
Independently Owned
The GlenAllachie is one of Scotland’s few independently owned and managed distilleries and is led by industry veteran, Billy Walker, who boasts an almost half-century tenure in whisky. Nestled at the foot of Ben Rinnes, the distillery lies at the heart of the Speyside, with a focus upon small batch production. Spanning 16 on-site warehouses which hold over 50,000 casks, The GlenAllachie’s passionate team have complete control of the end-to-end maturation process, which provides them with the freedom to make decisions for all the right reasons.
The guys at The GlenAllachie don’t just make amazing whisky, they offer distillery tours that show you exactly how they do it. They have two brand new experiences at The GlenAllachie Distillery Visitor Centre. From the comfort of their wonderful tasting room, you will learn all you need to know about Scotch whisky with this insightful tour of The GlenAllachie Distillery. You’ll enjoy a tutored tasting of four of their most exceptional whiskies, receive a complimentary gift and a £5 voucher to be spent on any whisky over the price of £45. Love whisky? This would make a great gift – especially with Father’s Day around the corner.
The GlenAllachie offer whisky from 10 years to 30 years aged and the calibre of their distilling process ensures the taste on offer is beyond compare. Billy Walker spends countless hours in the GlenAllachie warehouses sampling across their range of casks and, with over 50,000 on-site, it’s not a job for the faint-hearted. However, it’s certainly time well spent when the results of his endeavours are tasted and it’s the consumer who really benefits from it because The GlenAllachie’s whiskies are so well-regarded the world over. Whether you’re a whisky veteran or just starting out in the wonderful world of whisky, The GlenAllachie are a Scottish distillery that need to be well and truly on your radar.
