Playing cards are not something that immediately spring to mind for most people when it comes to awesomeness but for us here at Coolector HQ, we seldom see a platform for showcasing design flair and creativity than a set of conventional playing cards and this has once again proven to be the case with this wonderfully retro offering from Draplin Design Co. called Thick Lines.
Boasting a distinctly Boogie Nights-esque feel to their design, the psychedelic nature of these Thick Lines Playing Cards will definitely appeal to those who lived through the 60s and 70s but they have come full circle and look just as awesome today as they would over half a century ago. The designs are the work of Aaron Draplin who is a Detroit born and Portland dwelling designer who has really hit the nail on the head with his Thick Lines playing cards in the humble opinion of us here at Coolector HQ.
Though the purpose of playing cards are all the same essentially, they start out life as a blank canvas and we here at The Coolector are mightily glad that there are the likes of Aaron Draplin out there to bring them to life. Take a gander at a few more images of the Thick Lines Playing Cards below:
The set is currently seeking funding on a new site called Deckstarter which, as the name suggests, is a crowdfunding site akin to Kickstarter but one that deals exclusively in playing cards. The Thick Lines Playing Cards from Draplin Design Co. is one of their first offerings but if the rest are as patently excellent as this, then they will definitely be onto a winner.
