We can think of few more idyllic places to li18ve than the Swedish woodland and that’s why it’s fair to say that we’ve fallen mighty hard for Villa Tennisvägen from Johan Sundberg Arkitektur which is a stunning piece of contemporary architecture that delivers the perfect relaxing living environment for the lucky owners.
Villa Tennisvägen from Johan Sundberg Arkitektur is clad in a stealthy dark brick and is located on the southern tip of Sweden around a lush courtyard and spectacular swimming pool. The residential property has been purpose built for a site which is nestled within the Ljungskogen pine forest in Sweden’s southernmost county, Skåne.
Modern Scandi Style
This beautiful house was designed for a couple and their two children and consists of several interconnected volumes which have been arranged in a U-shape around the garden and swimming pool area. The property’s exterior walls are clad with dark-grey brick from Danish firm Petersen, which delivers an impressive robustness and uniformity. The dark tone and understated variation in the bricks help the house to blend in with its woodland setting.
Villa Tennisvägen has a cohesive and relatively closed character and the interior feels welcoming and is characterised by light, space and generous views of the garden and surrounding nature. A wooden front door and slatted screens are used to cover some of the windows and this makes them stand out against the brick facades of the villa, with the timber echoing the tone and texture of surrounding trees and woodland.
On the elevations of Villa Tennisvägen that look out onto the central courtyard, the architects have used dark-grey aluminium for the balcony edging and window surrounds which has been chosen because it perfectly compliments the brick and timber decking. The material palette deployed throughout the project is refined to ensure greater consistency and cohesion. The use of warm materials like oak and cedar on the interior of the house which provides an eye-catching contrast with the bold exterior.
Eye-Catching Interiors
Johan Sundberg Arkitektur took responsibility for the design of many of the interior fixtures and fittings of Villa Tennisvägen, which included the joinery that combines with materials such as marble to bring a real sense of understated luxury to the inside of this stunning Swedish home in the heart of glorious woodland.
A large living space and adjoining kitchen and dining room make up the main social hub at the heart of this striking, contemporary villa. These living spaces are dotted with full-height glass doors that open directly onto the terrace and out onto the open woodland that surrounds Villa Tennisvägen. Wonderful woodland living.
