There is something about space themed timepieces which really appeals to our sensibilities here at Coolector HQ and since we started back in 2016, we’ve not seen many brands doing this better than the guys at Werenbach. Well, they’re bach at it with their latest Kickstarter release – the stunning looking Rocket Watch which has already taken the crowdfunding platform by storm. And for good reason.
The Werenbach Rocket Watch on Kickstarter is available for the fantastic price of just £425 during the campaign and this is nothing short of extraordinary given the quality components used throughout and the aesthetically superior design on offer. The Rocket Watch boasts a dial which is crafted from a real space rocket that has left planet earth and that gives this timepiece an astronomical edge which is beyond compare.
To Infinity And Beyond
Werenbach are a small watch workshop located in Zurich, Switzerland, and the brand behind the world’s first ‘rocket watch’. Since coming up with the idea more than eight years ago, they’ve dedicated themselves to creating the perfect celestial masterpiece. They travel to the steppes of Kazakhstan to gather burned out material from real-life space rockets, then use it to create their inimitable timepieces.
For the Werenbach Rocket Watch (from £425), they have used material from the rocket, Soyuz MS-09. This was launched on June 6, 2018 in Baikonur, Kazakhstan to carry three astronauts to the ISS. The timpieces were made by melting down the boosters, which reached an altitude of more than 30 miles upon the rocket’s launch. This unique material was collected by Werenbach from the steppes of Kazakhstan, where the jettisoned rocket engines fell back to Earth.
The space inspired design of these watches is second to none and they boast a unique 3D profile. The logo and hour markers are raised, while other areas, such as the ‘ROCKET MATERIAL’ and ‘ORBIT’ lettering, are set into depressed grooves in the dial which delivers a mighty striking visual impact. This transforms the watches into aesthetically unparalleled timepieces and the dials themselves are a world innovation – the first to be produced using aluminium injection moulding technology.
Movement Matters
Each one of the Rocket Watches from Werenbach on Kickstarter will be powered by one of two movements. One is the most famous Swiss mechanical movement par excellence (Sellita SW-200); whilst the other is a speciality movement for watch-lovers offering exceptionally high precision (namely, the Soprod Newton). Both of exceptional performance that any watch aficionado will appreciate.
The fact you can get your hands on one of these watches for under £500 during the Kickstarter campaign is nothing short of miraculous and we’re loving their space vibes here at Coolector HQ. The watches do not require a battery as they run on kinetic energy, which is transferred to the watch by the motion of the arm. Available in a number of different styles and colour combinations, you’re definitely going to find one that fits in with your own style aesthetic. Head on over to Kickstarter now to bag yours for a bargain price.
